International Plastic Bag Free Day is celebrated every
year on July 3rd and has the aim of raising awareness about the need
for the total elimination of this kind of bag, which entails a serious environmental
problem. A single-use plastic bag, which we only use for a few minutes, takes
decades to degrade.
According to Greenpeace, in Spain, an average of more
than 140 bags per inhabitant are used each year. This means more than 6.6 billion
every year. This information makes it clear that our action must not fail.
We all need to collaborate to end the use of plastic
bags. Let’s change our habits and reuse them: bags have many lives! Another great
option is to search for alternatives in other sustainable materials, such as jute
and cotton.
